WSPTA Focus Day -- Jan. 18, 2010,

Did you know that 70% of our school budget comes from state revenue?
With an estimated 2.6 billion shortfall in the upcoming state budget, it
is vital that we let legislators know that education cuts hurt all
children.
I am working on setting up a meeting with Marcie Maxwell, Representative
from the 41st district (and past PTA Council President as well as Renton
School Board Director) during one of the choice times. I would be happy
to make appointments for you with your legislators if you let me know.

Region 9 will have a bus to Focus Day on January 18th. As long as we
can get enough people to sign up to fill the bus and send their
money to Brooke Valentine- Region 9 Legislative Chair before the
18th. So we need your help- need to get the word out quickly about
this opportunity. See below for details:
Bus Location: Meeting at the Federal Way Park and
Ride at 32320-23rd Avenue South, Federal Way
Time: Arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. to board Bus will
leave promptly at 8:00 a.m. Bus will leave Olympia at 1:00 p.m.
and return to Federal Way Park and Ride approximately 2:00 p.m.
Cost- $15.00 per passenger - Region 9 will provide a
snack bag to those that take the bus.
